Reason why a job stays on Aesop for more than 5 minutes?
Posted By

Sometimes it involves paperwork.
I put a job in a few days ago and was surprised that it wasn’t picked up. I talked to the lady at our district office, and she said it is because subs are still completing required paperwork and...

Anyone get a bachelor's in something other than teaching and then went back later?

I got a degree
In earth science and then went back to get a second undergrad degree in elementary ed. Getting a master’s would have made me too expensive to get hired in my state.

My pay comes every other week. I have to say that now that we no longer get paper checks, I hardly notice unless I happen to check email the day the deposit is being made.

Very easy to do. Just follow the steps on the website. I posted two projects last year, and both of them were fully funded without me doing anything but posting them. I didn't send any project...

Can the school board reject a candidate?
Posted By
geoteacher8
It is rare,
but the school board can definitely reject a hire. I was actually at a board meeting where it happened. The candidate eventually found full-time work in a nearby district.

I’m glad to hear that I’m not alone. Although summer goes by fast enough, I also experience a certain amount of loneliness. I tend to be more introverted, so that is part of it. I also miss having...

Community Classroom Supplies?
Posted By
geoteacher8
My own kids
absolutely hated community supplies. It was not that they didn’t want to share but rather that the community supplies often weren’t well cared for by the group. I wouldn’t do it.

Can an older teacher get hired? Should she want to?

I returned
to teaching after an 11-year hiatus. I will admit that it was a bit like starting over again, but it didn't take long to get back in the groove. If you were an effective teacher in the past, you...

Call the principal and file a police report. Those are threats, and, based on this student’s history, they need to be taken seriously!

Quite honestly,
I wouldn’t sweat it. The only way we score above proficient is if our classes are almost entirely student-led. That just isn’t possible with all groups.
