or with the k-1st, you can sing a song that has hand motions, like "Where is Thumpkin". The kids love to do that in line.

Maybe with the older kids you could have them...

whatever makes MY day easier...

It makes my life as a sub easier to have a bunch of pencils! I carry maybe 30 SHARPENED pencils with me. That way I don't have to hear "my neighbor doesn't have a pencil" or "I dont have a friend...

before starting any activity, call rows or groups of kids to come up and YOU SHARPEN THEIR PENCIL.

Also bring a healthy supply of what i like to call "fat pencils" with you. These are bigger...

As a sub I always worry about this...

especially since I am not familiar with all of the kids in each of the two schools I sub in.Both of the schools do have nurses though. If it was an emergency I would not hesitate to call the office...

i've seen that too, and it bothers me to no end!

I had a 12 year old kid today who barely did anything all day. He did 10 vocab matching definitions for me then refused to do anything else....
