I can totally relate

We, too, have a new AP and she is quite the micromanager! Our morale is worse than ever and teachers are really frustrated. She runs our data meetings and calls the shots. She decides what...

I am also searching for this type of resource

I have a boy who writes phonetically and it is destroying his writing.
He especially seems to lack knowledge of vowel pair spellings and suffixes. I am looking and will post if I find anything good.

Research shows that groups no larger

than 3 are the most effective. That is why Fountas and Pinnell have only 4 copies of each book in their Leveled Literacy Intervention Kits. If you can, break down the students into 2 or 3 smaller...

For comprehension, I like DIBELS Daze.

I like the format of Daze better than Maze. It takes 3 minutes to administer and I found the results to be very consistent with the students' reading performance. We also use Easy CBM for fluency.

I tried push in against my better judgement

because the admin. wanted it. I teach struggling readers and found the distractions and noise levels in many rooms made it very difficult to keep my kids on task. They were more interested on what...

I work in a cave, too

I don't mind my small space as much as I mind not having any natural sunlight in my room! I brought in a table lamp and a floor lamp with 5 flexible arms that I can adjust. I put Reveal type bulbs...

that the students can use to record their reading? I pair my students up and they take turns recording themselves on the iPad. I use the Reading a-z fluency passages and the students graph their...

continued from previous post

I emphasize that the coach must have a good personality and be able to work with the staff.

I would say that the answers to #5 and #6 are the same as for the previous poster.
Good luck!
