We had a meeting where they told us to plan and record 20 minute lessons using Screencastify, which they will provide training for in July. I’m not doing anything until after that training. My job...

My district is simply not replacing anyone who leaves of their own accord. Jobs are combined when possible, and some teachers are even being asked if they are willing to be reassigned...they can...

Most Important

I see no problem with this. It looks fairly well thought out and forward thinking - kids who go to middle school without any “movement” find it difficult to adjust to a bell schedule.

The most...

Usually our sped person says something along the lines of: “I’m sorry, but ____’s testing and evaluation data doesn’t support a need for that accommodation. These are the accommodations we are able...

New Job

Remember that schools are businesses. People come and go quite frequently and it will be fine. Especially if you’re telling them NOW in the beginning of Summer!

Congratulations! It’s so exciting...

Distance Learning

For us, I thought it was a well thought-out joke. We tried to teach, but the constraints put in place by the state and district made things so hard - no new materials, no “homework,” no grades that...

Me too

Although I think I’m in the minority in general, I think parades should not be happening. It’s so “extra” and at least for many students I can say based on my student participation during online...

Word Walls

I have done a few different things.
1. I did one big traditional word wall for everyone when I taught second grade.
2. I was moved to a much smaller space and so I used Manila folder word walls. I...

We’ve just been told that we will be combining language arts and literature into one 45-minute class period.
We have always had two separate classes for language arts and literature.
Does anyone...

Put it on Speaker

And do your thing.

They probably wonder why people get snippy with them - it’s that all of our patience is spent waiting on hold for hours on end listening to static, bad music, or recurring ads...

Does starting early eat into your allotted time (when the time limit on free accounts exists)? I wouldn’t want to start quite that early! I always log in about 2 minutes ahead of time just to make...

Thank You

I appreciate your ideas; there are a ton of good ones! I’ve settled on a stained glass suncatcher with birds. She loves birds! The Etsy links gave me the idea. Thank you SO much everyone!

Another poster on a similar thread said something along the lines of just referring them back to read the directions. I have done that and it cut down dramatically on the “east way out” e-mails. I...

But that came about because there was such a discrepancy in each building. It was a real problem for me when I was between 2...

It’s definitely #firstworldproblems. I admit it! I KNOW it.

But the moment I can see my hair stylist, she’s not cutting my hair...she will be taking care of these wild child eyebrows! I’m afraid I...
