Never met a chocolate chip cookie

I didn't love. Soft and chewy, gooey is my fave though!

A&w

We seldom ate out, but the A&W drive in was our go-to place. Girls on roller skates delivered trays that hung on the driver's side window/door. Truthfully, I don't remember the food--I think just...

My sympathies

I put my earrings on while sitting on the side of the bed. Weeks ago I put one earring beside me on the bed while I put in the other. I heard it roll and drop. I looked everywhere, down on my...

Why not call it what you said? Reading Wall of Fame? or maybe use a quote about reading--Today's Readers, Tomorrow's Leaders. . .

My mom

would plan meals for five on a dollar a day budget. When we were kids, every Sunday after church we would stop at a little store and we would each get a dime for candy. So exciting!

I also...

like timeforbed

I have pretty much always shopped online (or pre-online, by catalog). I am extra tall and pretty large (fluffy!), even minus the 100 pounds lost in past years.

I particularly like Old Navy (for...

Yes! I agree with you!

I've retired this year thanks to Covid, but this has been more and more the case in recent years. It negated the reasons I became a teacher, and ignored all of my years of study and experience. I...

This isn't exactly right, but maybe?

Robert Munsch's book, Stephanie's Ponytail? In it, a little girl wears her ponytail in a different style each day, and more and more people copy her. Eventually she wears her ponytail in a way that...

Ketchup or catsup?

I only eat catsup on French fries and on meatloaf. Don't ask me why just those two things. . . lol! But, since I no longer eat French fries, I haven't had catsup in a while.

Otherwise, I love...

Mr. Harper, 5th Grade at University Park Elementary. We learned about combustion engines. I still remember the intense diagram he drew freehand on the board (with chalk--pre overheads, whiteboards,...

I have a good while yet to wait, but

yes, I will get it!

I have a sister who is an MD/PhD, a brilliant scientist, and I follow her lead. She has followed the science, and thinks it is safe and worthwhile. I trust her judgment. She...

I know you are feeling over managed

but, this online thing is new for administrators also. They are probably trying to get a handle on how things are working for both teachers and students. And, of course, they are needing to adjust...

On HGTV

I think most of the programs are on a strict timeline and budget. Restoring and finishing the original woodwork takes a lot of time and money. Painting is easier and quicker. It also brightens and...

I've done the visit through the window

It is frustrating and inefficient. We found that even though my mom was really close by, it was better to visit via FaceTime. I could hear what she was saying without her having to yell. She could...

Not a definitive answer, but

As long as the sums are under ten, then using a single ten-frame would be my choice, with different colors for the different addends.

As the sums go over ten, then I would use a separate...

Just a word of caution

The fonts may not transfer from your PowerPoint to Google Slides exactly. And if you use transitions and animations, they may not work either when transferred from one platform to the other.

Just a note

Make sure that you have access to monitor what she is doing if she sets up separate Google Meet sessions for small groups. You, as the teacher, will be ultimately responsible for whatever the...

First one was the worst

I had the shot one afternoon. Took my mom for some eye surgery early the next day, and passed out in their office. Not something that has ever happened before or since. Still don't know if it was...

This assessment is often mis-used.

Think of it as an individual assessment for each child to help you guide their reading instruction and to help group like needs together in reading groups. Yes, unfortunately, in order to really use...

Could you use Google translate?

It would be time consuming, but it would probably not be too bad. Since the words are simple nouns the translation shouldn't be too complex. Use the copy and paste feature built into the Translate...

You've got some great suggestions here

I just wanted to add that the book The Kissing Hand, by Audrey Penn, has been helpful for some younger kids. I don't know whether it would be appropriate. Just thought I would mention it. Books...
