I used an index card file or recipe box for my kids. They buy their own and leave it at school. A few are using pencil boxes too.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking the same thing about the rising 3rd graders saying, "Ohhhh Mr B had bees too!" No one is using dogs as a theme and I think it will be cute.
