My first thought was the name King or even Prince. He just looks majestic!

Explosion

Once your co-worker starts to explode, just look at her and say, "Not dealing with this today. I have kids to teach," and walk away. I wish you well while you deal with this and wish I had more...

Hostile environment

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. What you need to do first is address her in a calm manner and tell her simply that you don't appreciate the way she is talking to you. Once that is done...

Certified

In our district the salaried people (teachers, counselors and such) are considered "certified". Our paras and people paid hourly are considered "classified". Is that the direction your district is...

aides vs paras

My bad! They are actually all considered paras in our district, but I was trying to use the lingo that is used here. I need to proof read better, but got worn out doing that with my boards work LOL!...

Aides as subs

This is kind of interesting to me. My aides are paid for with special education funds and cannot be pulled to sub in a class as the pay is vastly different (subs get paid more per day than our...

Sub situation

In our school, if there is a shortage of subs (and it happens often), then we can volunteer to cover a class during our planning time. If we do that, we get matching time. If I work in another...

Contract hours

Devil's Advocate here - Does the principal have different contract hours for some reason? One of ours does so it may seem like he is late every day, but he stays later than the other admin daily due...

Students

It sounds as if your major concern is this one student. We all know one student can make or break a room :)

Here is some of my advice as a special educator with a concentration in AD/HD (and most...

Lunch time

I just want a lunch time! I'm a sped teacher that co-teaches and most days I have 15 minutes for lunch. An hour would be a treat! 2 hours would be a fantasy!

My team teachers are amazing each...

Rough day

I feel really bad for you and the student. If you are close enough with the student, maybe just ask how they are doing and if they need anything. This seems like a pretty traumatic situation for...

No dumb questions

First off, you aren't asking a dumb question as this is a strenuous process! Go you!

Next, do you have a printer at school that will email you the document in a pdf format? I did this and it was...

I love it

I really enjoy co-teaching. I don't work in an affluent school and I have students in my classes that are 4-5 years behind (high school). The beauty of my situation is that I am in 1 subject area, 1...

Disrespect

I'm sorry this happened to you. My best advice would be to not get into a battle with the kids. You won't win. The kids will continue to engage in this kind of talking back and language as long as...

I'm not taking any chances ;) . I'll hit that button, but not until tomorrow at the earliest. I just stress about things that I want so badly! I will say that I learned more about myself this time...

In our district

In my district, the only thing I'm guaranteed is a 30 minute duty free lunch and 20% of my week to be for planning/PLC work. We don't have legally required breaks. You may have to look into what...

I am done with videoing, writing, revising, deleting stuff to make it fit, I have my codes and just started my uploads for C3 (I'm on my second try). My nerves are a bit frayed right now.

Is...

This....This is why the FBA is needed. I would push to have one done. FBA doesn't generally change the label, but if the student is needing interventions then it's best to know what the antecedents...

Kids on IEP

Clarity, I agree here. "Least Restrictive Environment" (LRE) is what is best for the student, not the class or the teacher. Sometimes the environment the student is in, is not the best one for them...
