I'm in the same boat

I've had the worst couple years, and just couldn't do another year where I'm at. I got a job offer and accepted it for next year, but I'm so worried things are not going to be better, and that I'm...

I have been at my current school for just 4 years, but 3 of those years I get the sped cluster. It's burned me out, and no one on my grade level steps up to do it. So I resigned back in January...

I went ahead and resigned,

but only because I'm moving at the end of the year, and definitely will not be able to commit to another year at my present school. I didn't want to surprise my current P when she received a phone...

Not too important

I spent a lot of time making one a few years ago, and the hiring team never asked for it. I also interviewed a couple of times last month, and no one asked for it those times either. I'm honestly...

Absolutely not

Teacher evaluations have drastically changed over the years, and it has only added to the stress, and in my opinion lowers our moral. I just try to do my best with what I'm dealt with every year,...

I ask that same question too.

I went to a new school 4 years ago cause I got married and needed to relocate. The transition was hard as I taught at the same school 10 years prior and the same grade level. It turned out I like...

Resign ASAP

I would resign asap. You don't want a nonrenew on your record to explain to other potential employers. You will still get all the benefits until your contract is up. Look up example ones on Google...

Thank you for the advice.

I did ask my previous P and she said it would be fine for me to give her number out. I feel a lot more comfortable about her getting a potential call now. I am amazed at how hard the hiring process...

Waste of Time

I think detailed lesson plans are a waste of time. I resent having to do them, but reluctantly have to do so. I think teacher pay should have shot up considerably when principals and school leaders...

All the young darlings...

are going to be old too someday, so don't sell yourself short. Realize that age and experience sometimes creates the best teaching. To be quite honest, my best teachers were the older ones, not the...

I wouldn't spend a dime.

Whoever makes the suggestion to buy things, should be the one to open their wallet. As far as this child helping his or herself to your things, call the office and tell them you need admin to take...

Be patient

I know it's hard, but they really have to wait before they hire, and it might not be until April or May until they can give you a firm offer. I would try to distract myself as much as possible in...

Has anyone left for greener pastures?

Just wondering if any if you that left teaching, have gotten jobs in other fields? If so, doing what? Are you happier now than when you were teaching? I'm on the fence right now myself.

I'm 100 % for paddling.

Let's bring it back and see how fast our kids straighten up. Behavior is way out of control and it's the only thing that truly works.

They need you more than you need them.

I have been in this profession for 19 years now, and I feel like I've seen the good old days come and go. At this point, our nation is going to have to start begging for people to even consider...
