The theory

is that the students who need the most help with homework do not receive it anyway(over generalized I know) so they end up practicing some concepts the wrong way. I give very little homework.

We have been using 2 strategies for subtraction. We are not allowed to use the algorithms in 2nd grade. The first one is make a friendly number:
