Contract Language

If you have a union, read your contract language. That could constitute a change in working conditions, which would then require you to look at the Education Code for your state. If it says during...

Drive up grocery safety

Anyone else worry about the safety of getting groceries, etc. through drive up? What if someone coughed on it? I have been Clorox-wiping my groceries, but wiping the egg carton is not really...

Send it all back

Get a box, and send everything back. Scraps of paper, push pins, paper clips, etc. (Is that passive-aggressive enough for her?) <!--giggle-->We always have to turn in our gradebooks.

Public School vs Private Sector

I agree, it feels a little funny to say the break was too short, when my friends only get 2-3 weeks of vacation each year. OTOH, I worked in a bank 25 years ago, and took a MASSIVE pay cut...

Get every SPED person at the school and/or district and the principal to come and observe him, and document everything. Ask the SPED people and your admin what you are supposed to do when he melts...

Just sayin' in CA you won't get an aide. But that's another topic. <!--giggle-->

Onto the ODD, can you give him choices about what he wants to do so that he actually ends up doing what he is...

Student is Disruptive in the Resource Room

What to do about a student who refuses to work in the Resource Room? He's a 5th grader who struggles with reading and has an IEP for it. He refuses to try, and continues to bother the other students...

What?

75 problems? You have got to be kidding me! Find some research that shows that this is ineffective and approach the teacher with it. There is a lot of evidence out there that shows this type of...

Was sh50+e trying to spark discussion?

In the sense that a student that was problematic liked rap music, so what do you (students) think? Is that a factor?

I see nothing wrong with sparking discussion with 4th graders, unless the...

Ignore them?

They are always there. Best idea is to ignore, keep your head down and do your job. Don't let them get to you.

Get a Dr Note

Present the cook with a doctor's note saying what happens when you are around peanut products. It doesn't sound like you are being unreasonable, heck, you haven't told them no peanuts in the school!...

Ridiculous

No consequences is what I am hearing and seeing. You don't follow the rules, so you go to the office and play on an iPad for an hour. Then the admin chastises the teachers saying if they'd only have...

In the contract

Ours is in the contract. MTT/BTS or whatever we want to call it, Open House in the spring, and one other "night" of our choice. We don't get paid (extra) for those.
