Our parents have a choice

Our parents have a choice, either virtual or in-person. I teach remotely because of health reasons. I truly believe half of my kids (I have 31 3rd graders) are keeping their kids out for...

Kentucky Governor

What a boob! Calling America weak because schools are closing due to weather! Who does he think he is? We in Illinois are battling the coldest weather I've ever lived: 52 years, and besides...

Not sure how much longer I can do this.

I was looking at one venting post, and the poor teacher mentioned something about paddling. While that, in itself, could be a whole separate issue, I don't think the teacher meant for that to be the...

Principal problems

Basically, I've been teaching for 10 years as a second career. I love teaching. I've had 3 prior principals who all got to observe and evaluate me and have had no issues. This year we got a...

Slips

I even make little slips with everyone's name and assignment name on it and the kids come up and highlight their name and the slip when they turn in an assignment. This helps cut down on the no-name...

Unfortunate

I think we've all been there, and that's precisely the reason those kids act up, because of the lack of consequences. We took our group who read and turned in their reading logs to a local baseball...

Old CD's

I was going through my garage and found a whole bunch of old CD's from software that are no longer viable. They also have the clear, plastic cases for most of them. Since I hate throwing anything...

My best friend...

accidentally threw a hairbrush at her daughter and snagged her in her eye. The school filed and it was investigated. My friend was mad and embarrassed but I reminded her that in this day and age,...

Some years are better...

I've had horrible years with this and then others are pretty good. One thing I've noticed, though, is that sometimes it's one girl that is instigating these reactions. I suggest that you try to see...

Some ideas..

A friend of mine just had a couple of interviews and she was asked about PBIS, specific strategies (although she didn't remember the name), RTI, and classroom management style.
I've heard that...

Prayers your way

Definitely time for a doctor

Sounds like you need a good check up! Rule pregnancy out/in, and that way you can proceed with the good news, if you are pregnant.
But if you aren't, a doctor can definitely help ease those issues...

During the 2nd year (she was only here 2) on my last...

I'm rediscovering PT...

For some reason I got away from PT but I'm glad I'm back. So I'm happy not everyone is on TPT or Teachers Notebook. I do like to peruse what's on there, but I'd go broke if I look too long. Thank...
