NJ Too!

Great idea-- I am moving back to first after 8 years in 2nd.
We can always use another fun celebration in Feb/March. THose are LONG months as we don't have a Feb. break.

No food!

My school has a no food policy for celebrations- which was an adjustment, but is really easier now that we're used to it.

We give a birthday menu to the child about a week before thier big day-...

The state offers reimbursement via federal funds ($1250) for the assessment, but no stipend from the district. Makes it very hard to get motivated!

Cornerstone

is 40 cents at walmart. I just bought a bunch! Not sure what I will do with them yet, but now I have them. THe best price I saw for colored pencils was last year # Target for 88 cents. Not sure...

Daily Review

I use the Evan Moor Daily Language and Daily Word Problem. Works out to either 2 or 3 sheets per kid per week-- depending on whether I copy Mon/Tues and We/THurs back to back.
