And..if all else fails..handwriting work all day..100 lines I WILL BE POLITE IN CLASS...works for me. At least they will have beautiful printing and aren't wasting time by arguing.

Singapore Math 8 Step Problem Solving

I teach third grade as well and have had tremendous results with the 8 Step Problem Solving Process from Singapore Math. It is great because it helps the students go beyond one step word problem....

The paragraphs are about 5-7 sentences long. We use Rebecca Sitton so all past spelling words are usually incorporated into the paragraph.
