Me too

Penguin82 you're not the only one. I never eat food given to me by a student, and if I leave a cup or bottle unattended oh well! It gets poured out/tossed in the trash.

A few times I've left a...

Yes, they do. In my district at least they do. Before you are hired you have to submit a certified copy of your college transcripts, among other things. There is a formal FBI check that also verifies...

In the both the district where I live, where my kids go to school, and the district where I work, parents are not permitted to declare their child as gifted, just like they are not permitted to...

My state's DOE website lists all licenses held by teachers, but not all credentials. Maybe it's like that where you live?

ETA by that I mean the education teachers hold. Last I looked my state's...

They do combine

I've seen classes combined at a high school. Sometimes an administrator will take the class. I once even saw a school do an impromptu 'assembly' at a high school because they didn't have enough subs.

Why are they so loud though?

I don't really mind the drama because I can tune people out easily enough, but I can't stand people SHOUTING at me. I always ask as nicely as possible, Why are you...

I would let it slide. She's a beast with issues don't have to attend every fight you're invited to. Sounds like she's been poking at you for awhile now to get a rise out of you (even the...

Oh Yes

I can tell you are a thoughtful sub. But maybe save yourself some aggravation perhaps consider leaving short notes. Teachers really don't like long notes, or to have discipline that carries over....

Ha ha!

I've been in a long term since the beginning of the school year. My kids saw the actual teacher 3 times before he went on leave. Most of them have forgotten that I'm a sub!

My end of year gift is...

Oh my! NO

I just saw the video and that was unacceptable!

I wonder if the teacher has trauma in her background or maybe she'd been assaulted in a bathroom as a child by a male student or...

I Agree

Historically processing speed has been one of the markers of being 'gifted'. Since your child is unable to complete the test in the allotted time, consider that she may not be gifted. Just about any...

Day to day temp work

If you don't want to commit to a regular schedule you could try day to day temp work through a temp agency.

I am still a bit peeved at this and usually I can let sub stuff go and not dwell on it. But I'm still a little mad…WHY would you have/leave NOTHING for the sub?? She didn't even have her schedule or...

Adjust your expectations, because it is not you. Subbing is a sucky job.

The pay is lousy.

The kids are going to continue to act out.
