Is anyone using the Envisions math program? What do you think of it? Our district might be adopting it next year and I'm curious. Thanks in advance!

Me, too!

I have soooo many kids who want to go to the nurse this year, I think because she's started to give out cool bags of ice instead of ice packs. I love some of the ideas I just read in this...

I use

Morning Math sheets from educationcreations.com. It's a subscription site and she has lots of different worksheets for K-5, so it's made it easy for me to differentiate, too.

That's how long it took me before I started to feel confident in my decisions and that what I was doing was going to result in student learning :). Give yourself time, this is a hard job! And who...

Kept it simple

I kept it really simple last year. I went to deepspacesparkle.com (an art teacher's website) and did the snowman painting project. It's done on blue paper with white paint. Then the kids add little...

Ditto to what upperwest said

I couldn't have said it better myself. I do guided reading, individual conferences, and D5/CAFE strategies. I have my whole class do Read to Self at the same time and that's when I do conferences. I...

Same thing happened...

We painted our hallway bulletin boards--it made a big difference, and we don't have to put up the background paper anymore, which saves time :).

Making Choices

I teach first and we're only doing 2 choices right now, but I have a chart I made and laminated on a large piece of chart paper. Down one side are the kids names, and across the top are the days of...

Go to. . .

the Responsive Classroom page on YouTube. Search for "Energizers." They have a bunch of great songs--my class loves them. We are currently enjoying "Go Bananas" and "Robot Rap."

I teach first grade, and my kids do a great job making their own choices. I do have one modification--we all do Read to Self at the same time, so that's not part of the choice rotation. It's just my...
