This is why...

I do not see schools being able to sustain the hybrid or in-person model very long. I would rather see a remote start, follow the data, and then ease into other models. Good luck.

Your choice...

I agree that you shouldn't be guilted into giving up your days. My first district did have a sick bank we negotiated. Tenured teachers could choose to give up five days over a period of three years....

I am retired, but when I was teaching, my reading for pleasure fell off dramatically. I did not have the time or the energy. Some of the books I bought were in my bag for a year!

Since Covid, I...

I would have probably texted, even though it's 19 years later, just to clear up what...

Doctor's visits...

I have had my mammo and a gyno visit this spring once things opened up for elective procedures. I have a derm visit in a couple of weeks and my internist that same week, also. The internist is to go...

Our area has had Trunk-or-Treat, where families decorate cars and give out candy to participating families in the school parking lot. They probably could do something like that with social...

Right now, I am reading The Sea Glass Cottage by RaeAnne Thayne. It is written in the style of Debbie Macomber, whose books I also enjoy. It is light, mindless reading with interesting characters.

I use one of my Pinterest boards for books I want to read. When I see a title, I find it and pin a picture of the jacket. Some people use the Goodreads site to track in some of the online book clubs.

I belong to several FB groups where there are Moms in the area trying to organize this. In all fairness, in some cases, it isn't about privilege, it also comes for a need for qualified childcare as...

Once in awhile...

I don't tend to get a lot of sleep at night. Not sure why, but I am more of a night owl now and still get up pretty early. If I am tired during the day, I might lie down on the couch and briefly...

Absolutely do not even consider having someone pretend to be the other principal. That is illegal and if you were to be caught, there would be consequences. I would not beg him to say something nice....

My friend recently ordered a dining room table and chairs from Wayfair. One chair came in broken, but otherwise, she is very satisfied with what she got. They are replacing the chair. As to delivery,...

A necessary evil, but I hate them, too. I also found the disposable ones to be lighter than the fabric. I wear them as required by my state, but I am so glad I am retired. I cannot imagine teaching...

I felt officially retired when I received my first pension check. That was reinforced by a day trip to the beach on what would have been my first day of school that next year. I also felt retired...

Pesto chicken

I did this in my slow cooker. I used boneless thighs but the original recipe called for chicken breasts. This was so easy, and so good. I used a small container of pesto sauce from my grocery store,...

A PPO is probably the most costly option, but gives you more flexibility. You want to make sure that your doctors are in the network because while my PPO lets you go out of the network, the cost...

Great idea!

That is a very creative idea on the part of the restaurant to create those boxes. The price seems very reasonable given the quality of the food.

In my state, the governor has been very cautious. Gyms are open for 1-on-1 personal training, and can do outdoor classes. My gym has also done virtual classes and froze our memberships. They do...
