I just finished The Art of Racing in the Rain, by Garth Stein. It's told from a dog's POV, and it's one of the best books I've read in a long, long time.

My DD has one right now. It was looking bad, but we did the whole soaking in warm salty water thing and it's almost well. Hers was swollen and had infection, but it drained on its own after soaking....
