Fun book to read?

I'm looking for a fun, science-type chapter book to read to a group of students in grades 1-3. Any suggestions? I plan to read just a chapter a class or so.

I think your money would be better spent buying a few books from NSTA and incorporating them into your curriculum. Then, I'd spend my money stocking up on basic supplies (kitchen chemistry type...

Roller coasters!

Buy pipe insulation from hardware store and build roller coasters. You can then have your students point out the areas of potential and kinetic energy conversions. My students LOVE this activity.
