Recall for sense of accomplishment

Time for some old school mastery?

Direct teach a method. Set up a competition using something like Quizizz or Socrative. Take a look at Eduprotocols. Some are free on their web site. The books are...

no reasearch that I've heard

I haven't heard about any research in that area.

However, I do wonder about more days just to spread out what we are currently trying to shove down their throats.

I'm also sure that plenty of...

P afraid of parents?

Ridiculous! Your comments are as positive as possible when trying to stay connected to reality.

It looks like P would be happier if you just lied, and every child is perfect.

Second TAOEP's suggestions

My district changes 403b "providers" frequently. Get all the information you can before proceeding.

If you don't have print copies of everything, get them.

One year private

I did one year at a private Christian school to get something other than subbing on my resume.

For me, there were some dramatic differences:

1. Class size- 25 changed to 36.
2. Three duties...

used to have it-miss it

I agree with LRRichardson. When I had AR, I had structures in place that made sure I met with students, that they had goals, and competition was injected.

1. Don't be die-hard/rigid about reading...

Not here

We have two solid weeks for Winter Break, no partial weeks. The time off always includes Christmas and New Year's Day.

Some of the wealthier districts in the county have started to add a "ski...

Time on task

For me, running a program with small reading groups means that more of the students are not receiving instruction.

I tend to whole group teach, then circulate and provide individual attention. I...

I found this site ages ago when I was looking for automated math facts practice.

It has much more than Online stuff now, including worksheets.

Hard, but don't give up

I understand your sadness. I, too, left a school that I thought I would be at for my whole career. A Princ was doing things that I could just no longer tolerate. It was a murderously hard decision,...

electronic options

If they word process their writing, they could use Paper Rater (paperrater.com). Use just the free part of Paper Rater, and show an example.

As OPs mentioned, I would also pare down their focus...

Same district-

I didn't read the attachment, so I may be whistling in the wind.

If they call you on it, just say you thought it was a district agreement.

This is a hard one.

I haven't seen a program that works. It's both a community and school culture thing.

I haven't used it yet, but I know there will come a day when I will need to. It's more geared toward older...

Phased out years ago

If teachers have a printer, it's one they purchased themselves, or it's an old one that's been well taken care of. Teachers buy their own cartridges, or they get one toner per year for old school...

Education is not immune from the

pecking order. I know that's an old term, but it sadly reflects how some teachers are treated. I'm sure it doesn't help, but it sounds like the lead teacher and some others are afraid. They've built...

In CA

Response to Intervention, RTI, is mandated. Even when there is no support staff, we are required to show that we are targeting these students' specific deficits.

Maybe you can make your warm-up...

Definitely agree with all41 who-

said it better than me.

Our district has had SPED teachers leave to another district because of lack of support all the way up the chain.

Teachers go through situations like yours, and...

How can they force you?

-unless they lie, fill out the paperwork, and pay for it.

If you have a union, check with them about placement if you choose not to renew.

The real problem is continued employment. Is there...

Love your description!

Random thoughts-

I would bet this happens to teachers often with "trauma informed teaching," SEL, PBIS...

Then, there is always a new, exciting repackaging of standard techniques dressed up...

I agree with OPs about FERPA issues.

It's clear that the professor doesn't support current educators, and one wonders if s/he has kept up with educational privacy laws.

The professor musts have...

turn it back on pot-stirrer

Yuck! I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I'm sure the other teachers and the students are stressed by it, too.

One idea: Let admin know. Then get all other teachers together. Start focusing on...
