I know this is off topic, but I get my material at Hobby Lobby. You can get a 40% off coupon from their website. They have a new material that is durable, has a vibrant color and is CHEAP! It's...

My son had it while he was a teenager in high school. The teacher across hall from me also had them when she was pregnant so I think she was in her late 20's.

I don't teach this age group, but when my personal children were this age, I let them use plastic playdoh scissors to cut playdoh. I remember helping them roll it into a long "snake" and then...

As a public school Pre-K teacher I can say our age requirements are set in stone. I agree you should trust your instincts. It sounds like another year of Pre-K would be great for your DD. Might I...

My DD is in college. I actively discouraged her from pursuing an education degree. She would be a fantastic teacher, but no. Just no. I wish I felt differently! :(

My kids knew that they would need scholarships because we couldn't give them a full ride. They both did well academically and got them. My DD in particular went after what she wanted. She knew she...

I am from the Midwest but have lived in South Louisiana for almost 30 years. Reading that you went to Carson's made me smile. We did a lot of shopping there when I was growing up. We either...

grocery shopping

I hate to admit this, but we like to shop when the Saints or LSU is playing. Louisiana loves their teams and the stores tend to be a lot less crowded when there is a game on tv. :o

That is a hard question because I use photos all over my room. Everything is labeled with their photo and name. We make a ton of class books and a lot of them have their photo on their page. I...

My DD now 20 walked on her tip toes as little girl and on into being a bigger elementary aged girl. I said something in the teacher's lounge about it once when she was 3 or 4 and laughed and said I...

Coming to circle

I teach Pre-K so I realize that my schedule may be vastly different than yours, but one thing that helps me is to have a "carrot" of something they want to do following circle time. We have morning...

Favorite Unit

Last year I taught a Three Little Pigs theme. We only scheduled it for a week and had more ideas than we could accomplish in that small amount of time. This year I have two weeks for the unit and I...

Early Childhood Board

I read that board. I don't think there are that many early childhood teachers on this site in comparison to other grade levels. I enjoy the board but it is definitely a slower board.

Key Ring

I usually slip a coin in to pry it open. With really tight ones I've used a dime to start and then moved to a nickel before actually putting the key on the ring.

I have a touch screen laptop. I think I have accidentally hit it before. My screen can be sensitive so I have to be careful!
