Dogs and grass.

Yes, this is normal and to be expected. There is nothing you can do short of not allowing the dog to run and that would be cruel. Dogs need exercise and especially running exercise, not just walking....

I've gone every 3 mo. for awhile when the dentist recommended it. Usually, after a year or so, we go back to every 6 mo. for awhile.

My insurance didn't cover the extra 3 mo. visits, but I...

Covering answers

I swear by 3M post-it tape. Expensive, but you don't need much , it is easily removable and you can reuse it. You can cut very small pieces with scissors to place over the answers. If you save the...

I, too have had colleagues that just passed out the test as a study guide.
That teaches students nothing.

At the beginning of each unit, I provide my students a list of vocabulary terms to...

5th graders are a lot of fun. It is easy to "hook" them into more mature themes, ideas and expectations as they will soon be moving to middle school and they want to fit into that expectation....

Tests

I avoid giving tests on Mondays.

Every other day of the week is fair game. It doesn't make the least bit of sense to me to wait until a Friday to give a test. Tests should be given when...

Anchor Charts

To me, and I learned from the best (around 2002) when anchor charts first became a visual way to demonstrate construction of student learning…

"anchor charts” are constructed with the students...

Room decor

I think there are bigger hills to die on. Yes, this was one particular limited study, but the fact remains that overly decorated rooms are distracting for many children and adults. It doesn’t mean...

Sharks

Reposting my previous post.

I live on the ocean very close to the most 2 recent bites. I won't call them attacks. There are always sharks around. I've seen them often. Most of the time people...

We used vbro once. When we arrived at the house for our rental week, we found the house occupied by the owner's brother, the wife, her sister, 4 young children and 2 dogs. They were in the first week...

Appendectomy

The more you force yourself to walk around now, the sooner you will recover. I learned this the hard way when a nurse told me to take it easy and stay in a recliner most of the time for the following...

Not an ignorant question at all.

Most of the beaches here are not designated as either swimming beaches or fishing beaches. You can pretty much swim or fish anywhere you please on the beaches....

Gas, propane actually. We use ours 3-4 times a week, year round.

Since we use the grill so much and char contains known carcinogens, we also opt for gas because you can control the temperature...

Neck Hugs

You can try putting a pair of small men's or large boy's tightie-whities on him. Put them on flap up so the tail sticks out the flap. Then find a small men’s or large boys t-shirt to put over his...

See how close he can get to a vehicle of any kind and not...
