It's hard

I'd tell them that it's for family reasons. Tell them that you will miss them dearly, but that you have to think of your family first. Expect tears and confusion. But they will adapt to a new teacher.

Block scheduling

All four of my sons had it. Our district began block scheduling at the high school in 1995. Oldest son had one year of regular scheduling and then the rest of his and his brothers' high school years...
