We don't say it

When we used to have morning announcements the entire school would say it together. For the last three years we haven't had announcements at the school, something about having to send home a daily...

Not sure of your classroom layout

But I have held small groups at the students' desks. I normally have teams of 4-5. So I would designate one set of desks for my small groups and send the students whose desks I was using to another...

I send home a packet. I send it Monday and it is due the following Monday. I know that families get busy with after school activities so I try to be accommodating to that. I also allow them to work...

Table cloths

I used the plastic table cloths from dollar tree last year. They worked fairly well and the pin holes were barely noticeable. I bought black for all my backgrounds, and used solid colored border...

You don't need to make yourself sound bad

The key is to think of something in your personality that can be misinterpreted.

So this is what it would like in an interview for me:

Interviewer: What do you think is your greatest weakness?...

Not sure how I feel

Our school had a kickball tournament for the students who completed every day of testing. If the student was absent or opted out of the test they didn't get to participate in the kickball tournament...

Youtube blocked here too

But I've gotten around by using the site keepvid dot com. At the top of the page you should see a long box. Paste the URL of the you tube video into this bar (you do not need to download software...

Like PP mentioned

Taking time off depends on your contract. Our principals are not supposed to ask where we've been if we're using personal days. Personal days are just that, personal days. We get 10 sick days a year,...

Third Grade

I've taught third grade for five years and I love it. The students still love their teacher, but are independent enough to work on their own and take care of themselves.

Like PP I don't either

I had so many students this year with their birthdays during the summer that we ended up not celebrating any. I used to give homework passes, but this year I made weekly packets and it was too hard...

But for the Common Core the standard reads:

Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step...

5th year

This is my 5th year teaching, and my 5th year in 3rd grade. Although I don't have experience with any other grade, I think 3rd is the best. My students grow so much during the year, and I love being...

and I prefer it for reading books. It looks and feels more like paper and I can read for longer because there isn't a glare. I also have a Kindle Fire, but that is mostly for web browsing and media...
