You could use

filing crates (the ones like milk crates), turn them upside down and put a cushion on top. If you have an Ikea near you, they have some really cute chairs for kids that are fairly cheap, too.

My grade level team

I always have my rules in mind

so like a previous poster said, I steer them towards it. It has always worked - I get the rules I want, and the kids feel like they created them. It's a win-win situation. The purpose of having kids...
