Don't give up.

Our district just announced that they plan to reduce class sizes when we re-open during the pandemic. I don't know where they think these extra classes and teachers are going to fit.<!--eyebrow--> We...

We can't have them. Some people smuggle them in from Mexico, but people seem to be more worried than usual about fire season.

My sister is a big animal person (in a rescue group, etc.). She HATES...

Thanks!

Thank you for this resource. I've been struggling with the idea of no touching when school starts back up. I've done PE as the first subject for years, and I will have to change up a lot of my...

6th is a testing grade/ class size

One thing to consider is that you may be responsible for standardized testing. In my state it's 2-12 that test. We analyze data and get "talked to" if it's too low, but so far, it doesn't figure on...

Also hard to turn brain off-

I agree with ESDTeacher98. I'm having a hard time not doing stuff for school. I also feel scattered when I think about it. We are painting all the cabinets in our loft, so that's helping keep my mind...

We're with you-

but we're painting cabinets. We didn't want to put big $$$ into new cupboards, so we're painting them ourselves. We are going from darker colored wood to a shade of greige (gray with a touch of beige...

Sbkangas5- Looks like you hit a nerve.

Based on the number of responses, a good chunk of the teaching community is very stressed and worried about the reopening of school.

So many have raised the same things that upset me about the...

Tools, not techniques

Our district has done how to use tools Online learning, but there isn't much that can be done about pedagogy. There is not any decent research on how to teach/learn effectively Online.

Roasted garlic!

I love their roasted garlic hummus.

I have lots of food problems, so having something flavorful that doesn't make me sick is wonderful! It's great with crudités, too, which is awesome for the...

Food vendors

Food vendors in our area set up in parking lots around the city and took "drive thru" orders. I thought that was great for them. I'm sure they're really hurting as traveling, seasonal businesses.

Feeling lucky that union's involved

We don't have any clear-cut plans, yet. There are too many unknowns to expect anyone to figure this out.

On the plus side, our union leadership are already involved in discussing the plans. We did...

Only in education!

You deserve to be happy for yourself.

"It's for the children," is always how they get us.

I think you'll feel better as you get some distance from it.

"Don't worry- Be...

Not required

We weren't required to do a certain number of video meetings. Our last day of school was June 10.

I had a combo, so I did Online meetings with each grade level, Monday through Thursday. I met...

Unsure-

This is something I've been thinking about, too, Haroldsgal.

One thing I'm considering is turning one of my novel studies into a quest using my behavior management/classroom climate program. I...

We're all so tired...

That is a bummer! With all the changes we've been rolling with, to have another big one on top of that must be so hard.

We had to get out on the last day and cannot go in during the summer or...

I haven't used them in a while because of the cost, but I'm pretty sure that Reflex and Gizmos are separate programs and costs.

Kahoot- another idea

My district won't allow Kahoot accounts because students can search Kahoots, and there are some VERY problematic ones.

There are lots of options on the NCTM math challenge site:...

Interact

I've used Interact units. They are inter-curricular, and the structure is generally cooperative grouping. Most have a culminating project that can be seen as PBL.

Be ready for LOTS of prep....

Mine is very specific.

I had two "word walls" because of a combo class this year. So far, the same is projected for next year.

Both grades do a word study weekly. I generally use either a Greek and Latin root words...

There are differences in fifth as compared with middle school.
