Comprehension Toolkit Texts

Does anyone have a list of other texts that can be used with Comprehension Toolkit and Primary Toolkit? I want resources that are not the ones Stephanie and Anne recommend.

Piggy Back

Reading these ideas gave me the idea to hang up posters around the room with a brief title, such as "green as a " and let kids list all the things it could be. Angry as a ..., light as a ..., etc.

Writing Idea for Evaluation

I need a great writing lesson for my evaluation next week. I use a writing workshop format, but would love a mind blowing lesson for my big day. What ideas can you share? I teach 5th grade.

Use a day

I have about 90 min for both and I am required to use basal. I do 45 min for each. Mini lesson topics come from basal, kids read from basal and self- selected books. I use one day (Wed) to teach...

I'm not sure which grade you are, but if you are primary, Kathy Collins' book (I forgot the name) is a must read. If you 3-6, try "Fourth Grade Readers". It also has great lessons.

One really great thing that RW is doing to prepare your students for testing is building their reading stamina. We so many kids that poop out before the end of the test because they aren't used to...

Even when I saw "The Sisters" at IRA, they said by Fifth Grade to just have kids read to self and work on writing...essentially reading and writing workshop.
