Perfect reply. I'd stop doing their job. I feel for you because I have a hunch that admin already knows about their behavior but doesn't want to deal with them. Continue to set a positive and...

help your child

Sounds like you are in a small school district or work for a bunch of idiotic non-caring people. Either way, I can't believe what I just read. Of course you are supposed to write good IEPs for all...

shame on them

I know this post is somewhat old, but I had to chime in. Your admin should be ashamed of themselves! I don't care if you were a first year teacher. What happens to treating people in a humane...

food combos

I love to mix different kinds of cereal together. In fact, just the other day I had Raisin Bran and Frosted Flakes. It's even better if it sits for a bit and gets semi-soggy. Sounds gross, but...

Pensions and moving out of state

I did a IRA rollover. It took me awhile to do it because I did not want to mess anything up, but in the meantime, I just left it in my old pension. I made sure I chose the option where I did not get...

introvert stuff

Thanks for all of the replies. At work I feel that sometimes I have a certain skill set, but I don't have the personality for the job. For the most part it does not upset me as I tend not to want...

Introverted educators

I have been an introvert with situational anxiety for pretty much my entire life. I like people. I like being with people. But sometimes, given the preference, I'd rather be at home online,...

I think you may still be grieving. I know when things are tough, work can be a good distraction. But in your case, doesn't sound like you get to have a lot of input with your co-teacher.

Even...

Kindergarten

Is tough! I used to be a kinder aide. While I loved my job, it was very hard. You always had to be ON. In addition to that, not only do you have to show them how to do everything, you have to be...

Start with some kind of object. Preferably something that interests them.
Write a sentence or two about it.
This is where they can start showing and not just telling.

reading

This is not my specialty, but I think for students with autism, I'd start with a subject that they are interested in. I'd also present it in small chunks rather than the entire piece at once.

Sped to Gen

I've thought about it, but probably not, especially if in my current district. The classes aren't balanced. Some of the gen ed classes look like sped classes. While the gen ed teachers don't have...

Squirrels

Your post made me laugh. But I must admit, I think squirrels are the most adorable creatures ever. I love to watch their antics, especially when they go into squirrel-proof birdfeeder!

I was hoping your AP noticed that GOOD you are doing. I know you are busy, but if possible, document how the class is doing when this student is not being disruptive.

As far as the other students...

*Yes there is nearby sink if you need it.

Well poo! I had to go and read your post and be reminded of how hot it will be in fall lol! I'm in Texas, so it will likely stay warm here until late October. At least it SHOULD be less than 90.

Homework

For 2nd grade, I'd use SeeSaw instead of Google Classroom. Not saying Google wouldn't work. But SeeSaw has the edge when it comes to parental involvement and learning outside of the classroom.

I think it's situational. Is your degree in high demand? The culture of your school/district? How is the turnover rate?

There was a time in my district where 80% of the time it meant they wanted...
