Paint them!
Ours are white. They lead from the family room into the sun room. The previous homeowner painted them, but I like them. I really like the pop of color with the blue though.

I would love any and all ideas of what this might be, and what I can do to help this child, a third grader. Here is what I have observed in the classroom:

Yes you can leave the inside white

Hugh Jackman can do anything

I really loved the movie, but I was a little disappointed with Hugh Jackman's singing. I do agree that he had a great overall performance. I guess I don't really care for the tone of his voice.
