I have used the "1,2,3, eyes on me!" technique before. The students will say "1,2 eyes on you!" but many of them do not look while saying it, or really show attention...

Great idea!

I love trying to keep things interactive. I think that would really help. Does the whisper thing really work for you? I have not found that it works.

Keeping attention

I'm in a first grade classroom. The kids tend to talk over me and get distracted. How do I keep their attention without having to raise my voice or turn off the lights. I don't like doing either.

I think it is important for students to be able to review what they have been learning in school outside of school. It is a great way for them to see that education expands outside of their school...
