you are not alone

Despite all the other "stuff", this is the Number One thing that frustrates me to no end. I have no advice, because I have the same struggle.

multiplication facts

I always give my tests, so that students have three seconds for each problem. I usually give one minute for a 20 question quiz or five minutes for a 100 question quiz.

It is called repeated subtraction. While I agree that it would be much easier to either just know the division fact or to use multiplication, I'm sure that several fourth graders don't know their...

I agree

I wouldn't wait until December. I start the first day of school, and it's still a stretch for some students. I've read that the rule of thumb for math fact fluency is 3 seconds per problem. We take...

I like the idea of RTI, but I am VERY frustrated with the implementation at my school. I agree, it should not take YEARS for students to move through tier 2 and 3 to be evaluated. Plus, teachers need...

teacher observations

We have a new evaluation system this year, and all teachers will be observed six times. This summer my principal emailed me and asked if I'd going to training to be a credentialed evaluator. I went...

I'm going to use them this year, but I'm going to make a bulletin board with them. I'll hang everyone's chain on a large push pin and keep it on our bulletin board. I'm also going to give out the...

schoolgirl style

I bought a set from her last summer and couldn't love it more! Yes, it was VERY time consuming, but I did go overboard. I redid everything in my room, so there was a lot to do! The expense was...

the story of my life

There have been so many times this year when I've felt like parents were totally missing the point. They're far more concerned with their child being upset because of a consequence, rather than the...

Last year, I had multiple students $200+ in lunch charges. I obviously don't believe any child should be hungry, but enough is enough. All students get a full meal no matter how much they owe, and...

Even as a current TpT seller and customer, I can certainly understand how we can all have different viewpoints on sites such as TpT. I can see how it's not for everyone.

As a customer, I love...

timed test

I always give three seconds a problem. If I give a 20 question test, I give my students one minute. I also give 100 question tests, and then I give students five minutes.

requesting leave

I image that each district/school is different. It took an act of Congress for me to get a one week leave while I was pregnant. I had to fill out so much paper work and have my doctor fill out all...
