It is just now affecting me...

All along, I have been the one reassuring others that this will all work out. I have been telling people that "I am cautiously optimistic about it." I have said that I am concerned but not afraid. ...

Life skills can be tough but you

can do this. Try to keep stress managable. Language still needs to be SIMPLE. Super simple. If your students are low enough to need this in MS, some of them maybe at the Pre-1st level in academics....

About anything will work

if it is older kids, you can hot glue a pompom on the end of a dry erase marker. The bigger pompoms work better on the regular markers and the smaller ones on the thin markers.

For little kids,...

If the main change

was the workbook and not the stories themselves, just pick and choose between the two editions for yourself. The student copy may be different but you could still use the questions for discussion or...

I plan to leave it all packed up at the

moment. My classroom has hard wood floors. To get them refinished and waxed properly, I had to take everything out and pack it up. My plan is to just get out only what I will need as I need it. ...

That teacher was BLASTED

on Reddit recently. Reddit has a r/teachers group. People there mentioned these same concerns and complaints.

Some even went so far as to claim teachers like her are the reason we are all...

Good grief!

Around here that would be tough!!! Even if the school provided 1:1 computers, I cannot imagine most homes having enough bandwidth on their wifi for more than a couple devices...Some of our families...

I was reading a similar thread

recently and hadn't posted on it yet. (Maybe started by Checkerjane?) Apparently many districts are opting for this model. I can see that happening at my school.

Truthfully, I can see both...

No ideas to add

I worry that it is a lose-lose situation for all of us--staff and students--GenEd and SpEd--alike.

I am concerned that all of the speeches from Fauci are focus on concerns about the kids, safety...

She makes a good point though.

Back years ago, before I was a sub or a teacher, I worked in a popular tourist destination in the midwest. When I started, the tourist season was late May through early November. We would file and...

My turn-- Both very petty...

1. Just went to Walmart (I know, I know--my bad but I had to.) They have spent a lot of time and money marking for social distancing--you know, because no one at WM...

I am concerned too about the

unintended consequences for some of the students in another way that I've never seen mentioned so far... Medication abuse and overuse, possibly overdoses, etc.

We all have "those" parents--the...

Hmm.

Not the norm here for sure.

My paras are discouraged from/not allowed to do any of that. In one district, it was even specified in the contract. They are to assist with the lessons and curriculum...

My fave is

math-aids.com

I like this one because you can customize the worksheets within certain parameters. Then once you set it up correctly, you can just hit "Refresh" to get a new/different one with the...

You're on the right track...

It sounds like you know what to do--You are right so far: Calm yourself then gather your thoughts. THEN, ask the relevant questions.

Since some of this is new--new levels, new content, the "new...

I agree with Teabreak

you can make goals based on his ability to attend to an activity of your choice at the table. If you can't get him to stay at the activity, you can't expect much progress. So even if he just...

I think that this CV makes

an exception to the old rules of unemployment. People who don't normally get it at all are getting it now so I think this means subs will get it even when you usually do not. Like a PP mentioned,...

so I can enter if I wish. I will probably go in this coming week and begin to pack. Depending on how much sorting and piddling I do, it takes either one good full day or 2-3 short days.

I might...

But, especially...
