I would suggest a Behavioural Optometrist (not sure if you have the same thing, or call it the same thing in the US)... There are some vision problems that won't be picked up with just a "normal"...

I agree

I hate homework in Kindergarten, although do see the need to practice sight words/reading at home... if anything just so parents can see how their kids are progressing (or not!).

As well as all these hands on activities - which work best! ... I use Word/Picture cards like the ones on Sparklebox and put them up on my word wall - and leave them there - for my ESL one to refer...
