It was not so bad.

I had been dreading a colonoscopy since I found out about them as a teenager. I have to admit, I would rather have it again than a root canal or lady check up.

Baking is my passion project.

I have been learning about different kinds of breads. I am REALLY wanting to master sugar cookie and cake decorating. I am much busier with my part-time jobs than I expected I would be when I...

Subbing, too.

My district pays $115 a day. If a sub works 4 consecutive days for the same teacher it jumps to $150. No other district around here pays close to that.

About 5 years ago the district paid $150...

Eagles, I live near Memphis, too.

I live in N. MS. This has been the most disturbing story. I saw on Memphis news last night that about 500 people have declared they would meet at 4:28 a.m. and finish her run. That brings tears...

I suspect I might have it.

I have another autoimmune issue with my kidneys. One autoimmune tends to lead to another so I have read. My eyes are extremely dry and mouth gets so dry at night I can barely swallow at times without...

Thank you. I was torn on what to do. On one hand, with this happening early in the class, I wanted to nip behaviors in the bud. On the other hand, it might have been petty of me to contact...

I am in N. MS

We were not affected in my area, but Jackson is really having a water emergency right now. The infrastructure for water was lacking before the flooding, but this made matters even worse. The...

WWYD--behavior

What would you do if you got pelted on the head by a piece of candy while addressing the class? This happened to me yesterday in a 7th grade classroom. I feel that it was intentional.

I tried...

@TheTrunch

It helps to know that at the end of the day, you can just leave all the issues at school. You don't have to call parents about behavior.

Sometimes you will have days that are so pleasant that...

So far this year has started off nicely.

I think I have found my sweet spot. It is a new grade 4/5 school. Our district reconfigured grades and buildings. I have never worked with students as young as 4th grade, but I think I like it!

Glad you got back in!

I got frustrated a few months ago when the website was not working as well as it had in all the years I have used it. Looking back, I joined Proteacher when I was working on my National Boards back...

I recently learned how to play this and have it at home. My 76 year old mother taught me how to play a few months ago!

Thank you for the suggestion!

Of my 3 part time jobs..

I work part-time for an optometrist usually 2 days a week, but sometimes it can be more days if the other receptionist needs me to relieve her. It is steady, reliable income. But since it is a 1...

Thanks!

I am thinking about adding the new 4th/5th grade school to my list. Our school district just shifted grades. Now 6th will be in its own building. My teaching years were with 6th-8th. I am nervous...

Well, I will come visit this board!

I need all the sub advice I can get! I worked full time in an office before deciding to get back in the classroom. I retired in 2020.

Maybe this board can gain some steam this next year. I...

In the same boat somewhat

I am supposed to watch my sodium due to kidney disease. It's hard because I crave salty, crunchy stuff. I try, but I probably ingest too much accidentally. I don't add salt when I cook. I try to...

I can leave school at school. All the extra duties, detailed lessons plans and all those boxes that had to be checked are the things wearing teachers down. If I have a behavior issue, I don't have to...
