Yes, I used DOJO and a clip chart last year in 5th and will do the same this year. I cannot leave DOJO up all day, so I use a clip chart as well for visuals.It worked for me.

I use a high chair (like a bar stool height) for the Story Time reader of the day (which is my line leader/big helper) They read for ten minutes after lunch everyday once the kids take over story...

It's called Think Pair Share

in California and we are expected to use it. Students are given numbers or letters (A's and B's) and the teacher tells who gets to share first "A's tell B;s, now switch. then one tells what the other...

I make their choices by table groups in order to save my sanity and so they can't all pick the same choice. It's working well. I have a 1/2 combo with 28 kids.

because we not only have first breakfast, but second chance breakfast at recess. Snacks are not allowed in my room...only water bottles. Evidently it pays to be poor.

our first grade teachers

put them up for the week and move a magnetic arrow to correspond with which one they're on. We write new objectives (and standards) for new skills as they are taught.

I use page protectors

with card stock inserts and felt squares for erasers. They put the felt and marker inside and keep the whole thing in their desk.
