THis is my first year with it. I look at the articles they offer and/or search out specific topics I'm working on in class. I like being able to choose the lexile level that's appropriate for...

I would also say...

that you have worked very hard to get to where you are now. Yes, teachers can have a tough time with situations or certain class make-ups. These experiences can make us stronger teachers because we...

So lucky...

She is my favorite author. I am hoping she comes to my area soon. I adore her characters and those very layered plotlines. Her new book raises lots of questions.

I love this series.

I look forward to the next book. Penny's words are so powerful in the way they draw you in to interact with the characters. Their experiences and the ways they speak to each other invite the reader...

A great game

to play is Kahoot. It's an on-line game format that allows the kids to play as teams. Teams would need a laptop/computer to play against each other. There are ready-made games or you can even make...

Sorry.

It is both hurtful and frustrating. I think this is such a tough thing to deal with; especially in this world of "single school culture." Having to follow the plans or be on the same page as everyone...

Moving is a major GRRRR!!!!

I also had to move this year and have spent the last few days trying to make my way into the new room. Moving was a disaster because of not being able to put the boxes in the room. The other teacher...

Love these suggestions...

Your suggestions are so good. Sharon Creech is one of my favorites. We have Native Americans, the Revolutionary War, Civil War, Five Themes of Geography, and the Holocaust for social studies. I agree...

Moving to Fifth

I am moving to fifth grade next year and am looking for suggestions of the best books to read and build into my library. I like the idea of integrating historical fiction in. Also, if you have ideas...

Sorry to piggy-back on this, but ...

Would you suggest a holistic doctor for a dog with epilepsy? I am at a loss in what to do at this point. He's on three meds to try and control his seizures. Recently, our vet said we had to wean him...

Got to give her credit...

This has worked for me as well.

I am totally with you on breaking things up. Once I started focusing on getting one good paragraph at a time with my students, life became so much more easy. The kids focus on just one part and are...

We're really into...

"Doc Martin." It is probably one of the quirkiest shows I've ever gotten into. We also enjoy "i-Zombie" which does have some violence, but is so well done. "Murdoch Mysteries" is another great series.

There are so many authors...

I love Chris Van Allsburg books. The plots are so strangely wonderful. Eve Bunting and Patricia Polacco are also favorites. Tomie DePaolo's Erandi's Braids is a great one.

I was wondering what this experience was like. If you've been, what would you recommend doing? There appear to be a lot of seminars/classes. What's an appropriate kind of dress for the week? Is it...
