Her gut feeling is mine as well.

In MO, the authorities offered the recommendations/suggestions with the caveat that local districts have the authority to implement what works best in their area. ...

When DH and I went in last, they offered insurance to us just like you--not usual.

We are on a family plan with 5 phones and a tablet. We had DD's iPhone X on insurance and they mentioned that...

Don't get too discouraged yet.

Most schools are just now getting to the deadline for teaching contract renewals in a regular school year. Resignations and transfer can still occur. This can create openings as those teachers also...

I know that we too often

look at the diagnosis first-but that is only a label for eligibility. For instruction, we have to look at her needs. So, to start, don't focus on the TBI. Look for instructional strategies for...

I think Dr. G is on the right track.

Build your relationships-be it students, parents or staff- and some of that becomes automatic. I also think "Essentials" vary by person. Mental health is a diverse area and, since it involves...

I am in a public school in the midwest

I too have a combination of very low and low(ish) students needing lots of mods and/or accommodations. Most of my students are in very few true gen ed classes at the high school level--mainly art,...

If you get two "page size" pieces,

You can cut them out, tape them together with plastic electrical tape or 2" box tape and make your own page pockets for worksheets or station activities.

I teach HS SpEd

I had each open a Google Slides ppt on their drive AS a journal. Each slide is a different day. I will not expect a slide every day.

Since they are all shared with me, I can respond back on...

I too remember a similar tool in my early years. I have searched for something like this since you posted this.

I know when I taught in the elementary, I had a printable student dictionary with a...

We did that back in the day...

but waited a little while in the year so it was warmer out.

We tended to go to the lake that day so this is way too early for us.

It was unofficially official. Everyone knew in advance but...

I think it STINKS!

With this explanation:

It is totally uncalled for! If it was a casual daily sub, it is bad enough but she is a full-time employee--with her own mailbox. The valentines should have been for...

It definitely...

I've been in three districts in two different states. All as SpEd and all had the same tech as any other teacher. My classroom now has a SmartBoard, a laptop with a dock, a desktop and 1:1 Student...

And again, I am sorry that happens to anyone. Disrespect is not professional in any job.

FWIW, I subbed for 6 years before teaching. I was a para for a year between years 7 and 8. I subbed...
