Okay for Now by Gary D. Schmidt, winner of Newbery Honor book for Wednesday Wars. This one is actually better. I also like Rules by Cynthia Lord for lower level readers.

When I was a kid

I collected earthworms to go fishing, and put them in my pockets.

Later decided that swimming was a better plan, so shorts went into the hamper.

and say that I love Crash as well, but just don't teach it. I also like Flipped and Rules, but I know those are read in 5th grade a lot.

Also a fan of Wringer, although it's an intense book.
