Jerry Spinelli

Jerry Spinelli has many good books that have great discussion topics. Many of the main characters have to make tough choices, which provides great discussion.

Realistic Fiction???

Good question. I was't sure either. I put it in realistic fiction in my library, because the events could happen, even though they are not likely to happen.

We use it for spelling.

Our whole school uses it for spelling. We use a combination of Words Their Way and Word Journeys. I like the philosophy and the sorting. I also like the order in which the concepts are introduced....

Suggestions on CD

If you have the kit at home, check out the Resource CD. She has a list of resources for each unit, professional books and children's books. I get my mentor texts from those lists. Hope this helps!
