What is going on with my child!?

I’ve shared enough here that you all know that life with an autistic child is a wild ride...well, life with my autistic child. DS is 8 and we still help him with a lot of ADLs. I figure...

Cricket Song

From what I can see on the website, NEXT for Autism does not appear to be affiliated with Autism $peaks.

It also has a good rating with Charity Navigator.

Progress

DS is becoming very interested in his peers. He’s making friends, too.

He drew this picture yesterday on the drive to school.

He told me:

“(Classmate’s) yummy pizza is a triangle!”

The...

Drag line

Absolutely not! This is a great idea. Swift has a drag line 24/7. His outside drag line is super long so he can still run and play, but the second he does something he’s not supposed to, I’m close...

Which would you choose?

I’ve been trying, half-heartedly, to convince DH that Swift needs a canine buddy. (Because yes, I have lost my ever loving mind.)

He had to work extremely late last night and stayed in a hotel...

Still pouting two days later

Swift may never recover from his big day out. He is not a fan of reduced rations, strict Mom, or more exercise.

He’s ready to call Grandma and complain. LOL

Perspective

I had brunch with a friend last month. We went right at opening and it was just the two of us. I wasn’t nervous about it at all and we had a lovely time. We’re planning to do it again....just as soon...

How sad

Just from a quick scan of the article it sounds eerily like CTE. How tragic for everyone involved. :(

Misbehaving service dog

Oh no, he will not being going anywhere in public unless he can behave himself. No way.

What kills me is when we’re out in a store and he’s training, he’s an angel.

.....you’re killing me dog.

Oh my

I hadn’t heard of it but I looked it up. It looks entertaining! I would love to send Swift to a regular groomer but baths make him super hyper. I feel like I’d get a “your dog is awful” report from...

Oh, he’s naughty too

GG, she used the o word! (obese) I mean, his paw is the size of my palm, he’s going to be a big dog....but apparently, he loves food too much. Oh, Swifter, how I can relate. He’s on rations and his...

Swift was fat shamed

by the dog trainer today. <!--giggle-->

I just wanted to cover his ears, tell him he’s beautiful, and not to let it affect his self-esteem. But I guess that answers my question on if he’s gained...

Nina Ottosson

I really like the Nina Ottosson puzzle games and from what I’ve read, they’re highly rated.

Swift has this one:

Eh

My experience was meh. The produce was good enough. Some questionable stuff but I found we weren’t using what they sent. My boys are very specific in what they’ll eat so the idea of trying...

Adorable!

I love them! Where did you find them?!

I just got Swift a silicone ID tag because I realized his stainless tag was also discoloring his fur. The struggle is real.

Report it, make noise

My child came home with a bruise on his arm last year that looked like a hand print (someone clearly grabbed him, hard). Since my child is unable to tell me how the bruise happened, I still have no...

Totally slipped my mind

I kill time a little over an hour away from home while DS is in school. I stopped one day this summer to get gas and ran in quickly to use the bathroom. As I walked to the bathroom, I noticed people...

Vet?

I am not a dog expert. Swift (and our beagle, Lucy from 20 years ago) are my only frame of reference and they both ate anything that didn’t eat them first.

My first instinct is ask your vet. They...

Photo Friday

It’s Friday!

Swift says, “Friday already!?”

I would like to know if he would like a larger stick...a log perhaps? A thousand toys and all he wants are sticks.
