school counseling

I am a school psych and I probably did more counseling at the high school level than the school counselor did. Granted, I also did a ton of SPED assessments, but the counselors were often too swamped...

I felt this way too! I was told that I had such great structure in my class which is why these challenging kids would do so well in my class. I certainly didn't see it as a compliment! My hard work...

parents sounding alike

That's perfect, Angelo! I don't know many meetings I've sat in where I need to explain the whole process and then, when it comes down to it, the parents don't want their kid in SPED, they just want...

parents sounding alike

I am seeing this in SPED. We'll get a rash of parent requests for assessments. It's like they get to chatting on social media and then they all think their snowflakes are in need of extra services...

selling textbooks

I used to sell on Amazon and get a good amount of money for my books. I recently tried to sell through them again and they took a much bigger cut, so between their cut and paying shipping, it wasn't...

new behaviorist

That is not okay. What is that telling the kid? That he can use his diagnosis or forgetting his meds as an excuse for his behavior.

Sticking with teaching?

It was about 5 or 6 years in when I decided that I was done with teaching and wanted something different. I ended up being a school psych, but I'd love to leave education at some point. One thing I...

Book Club Etiquette

Thank you all for the feedback. It gives me something to think about.

Wellbutrin

I was on the generic version and I found it helpful. I did have a slightly higher heart rate. On the other hand, I had a bit more energy and (TMI) orgasms were tons better!
