Do you have curriculum? That makes a

HUGE difference.

If you do not, you want a printer and enough ink cartridges--even color if you can.

Then, everything to make your own curriculum falls in line next.

Lamination sheets and...

NOT a man but, Just my opinion,

We (even in High School) only get to wear jeans of any kind on Fridays with a school spirit shirt.

I think business casual for men means at least Dockers style pants in any color. Even in the...

To me,

the reading strategies and mini-lessons involved in CAFE are timeless and will always be relevant no matter what you call them or how they are presented. Those strategies were around before the...

I am assuming the conference time is plan?

As long as you get that time, I can't imagine you would get anything additional. I don't think the number of preps or graded classes matter overall.

At our small school, some teachers have a...

Not sure... I am just talking here

so take it at face value only.

If she is just getting rid of the "Meeting," can you all just use the data from the Intervention block? The teachers would still need to fill out all the right...

Full moons are the worst!

On top of crazy behaviors, I have a hard time sleeping on the Full moon nights. It makes me tired and cranky those days as well.

Love the pillows

Just enough Sass without being sarcastic... And things they (we) all need to hear often.

It sounds like a Catch-22

The school has you over a barrel and they know it... It's like:

If you want paid sub work, complete the modules.

Skip the modules (since they are unpaid,) don't get paid sub jobs.

Some of the newer models are

dry erase compatible so if the person was used to newer tech, it would be an understandable mistake. Smartboards all look similar across the years and models.

Think too of the daily stuff

we all take for granted--

are there common supplies, copy paper, more and how to access? if not, how to get a P.O.
is there a code on the printer and where is the printer at?
is there on ground...

Right now I teach MS/HS Sped and the majority have autism. Some kids crave touch and others abhor it. When it is inappropriate, we try to decrease that and make replacement behaviors instead.

Miss Stacy

Students can get an IEP for a variety of disabilities and several of them do not include intellectual disabilities at all.

Students with IEPS can get modifications OR accommodations and that is...

And too, check your State specs on this

I am in MO. Recently, some changes occurred-unsure what all exactly off the top of my head. General ed students are now allowed some of the accommodations as well.

I only know because we were...

I think every level

has their own pros and cons... You just need to decide what is the best match for you... Of those two, I would choose 3-5th grades. Like others said, they are used to school and routine and are a...

Like the others

I don't mention the attendance in the IEP with much more than a generic sentence unless it has been a problem. "XXX is in good general health and has good (or average or fair) attendance."

This is my main gripe

In addition, they do not have the question sets like the individual passages do. from about 2nd grade up, regular passages have 10 question-some MC, some short answer and usually 1-2 deeper...

I like having a general plan

but, having the primarily Behavioral kids means we stop at time to handle behaviors as they occur. I tease that my plan book is half what I hope to accomplish and half what actually occurred...

Even in SpEd

we teach them to write on the notebook paper the correct way.

I made examples of a journal entry, several assignments in MLA format, a friendly letter and others on notebook paper. I laminated...

Whoa! That is too much!

Was there a stipulation in the paperwork/rules that makeup was not allowed? Did the girls know they had to leave it put away on the bus or trip? Did she ask them to put it away prior to snatching...

When we took kids to an outdoor adventure

with a creek, one of the activities was similar to panning for gold. The creek was "salted" ahead of time with faux gold nuggets (spray painted rocks) and gems (arts and crafts type.)

If you...
