Strange times call for more effort

I appreciate the comments, and they are thought-provoking. I've been a serious Black Friday shopper for many years but did not go out yesterday. I agree that stores want to do what they can to stay...

In-Store Doorbusters?!

A well-known teacher supply/learning toys store is advertising 'Black Friday In-Store Doorbusters' today. This really bugs me - don't they know we're in the middle of a pandemic? I think it's very...

Can Somebody Explain It to Me?

COVID cases are surging in almost every state. We are all being advised not to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends from outside of our immediate households. Governors who didn't believe in...

One of my biggest issues

The blinds being open at night is such a big pet peeve of mine that my family teases me about it. My husband is always rolling his eyes and saying, "Yeah, sure, the whole world is going to stand...

Some people are awful

How selfish and ignorant! Think about the athletes - their sport season is more important than anyone's life!

Shortages already

The Target I went into on Sunday was almost completely out of paper towels. They had a huge area of shelves that was empty except for 7 or 8 double-packs of the store brand on the top shelf. The...

It's a challenge for sure

I'm having trouble with this on the internet, too. /P/ is almost impossible for them to hear! The only thing that sort of works is having them repeat it to make sure they heard it. This is one are...

Also in a book

I was around 10 years old and read a book in which a character yelled "Screw you!" at her mother and got in trouble for doing so. I told my mom that I couldn't understand why this character in my...

I write it out

I have a tendency to replay things in my mind, too. One thing that helps me a lot is to write it all down. It's like a giant brain dump. It frees my mind from the endlessness of a tough situation...

My iPhone this weekend

I started having iPhone problems on Sunday. It might be a coincidence but I think it might have been related to the time change? I ran an update and it seems to work fine again.

Appreciate it

Thanks for the ideas so far. Unfortunately, we're not in Google Classroom. You've got my mind a bit less stuck and more clear, though, which I'm grateful for.

Remote Observation: How to show the 'classroom' environment?

We've been remote since school started and I need to show proof of my classroom environment to my administrator. This won't be done in a live observation but through documents and/or photos. For...

My adult children went to Halloween parties. Pictures show no social distancing. I'm disappointed in them. I'm also stressed with worry for them.

How was Halloween in your area?

My town cancelled the Halloween parade but allowed Trick or Treating and I think people really did a great job for the kids. Nearly everyone had a table or basket set up to help yourself and many...

Never knew it had a name

We threw corn kernels at each other in Philadelphia in the 70s and early 80s. I thought it was just a neighborhood thing. The sidewalks would have an awful lot of corn kernels on them!

I'm right there with you

Now that my students and their parents know we'll be going back in less than a month they are acting the same way. It's so frustrating! I've tried emails directly to parents about some issues (a kid...
