Yes, yes, yes!

So glad I'm not the only one with these thoughts running through my head every day!
Sit down and shut the f... up! was my daily mantra! Distance teaching may not be perfect, but at least I'm not...

Impressionable Kids

I'm still finding it difficult to figure out why these athletes chose to kneel during the National Anthem to protest something that has nothing to do with Patriotism. It's scary what's becoming of...

Looking for ideas for simple Halloween costumes. There are 6 of us (5th grade) and we are looking for a themed idea. Last year, there were 7 of us, and we did the 7 Dwarfs with our guidance...

Mine can't do anything on their own!

Maybe that's because they refuse to pay attention during my lessons. When I'm teaching my math lesson and look over the class and see maybe 4 kids actually listening, it makes me furious. I talk to...

That's just crazy

I am so tired of parents enabling their kids and blaming everything on us! By 5th grade, these kids are able to record assignments and pack their book bags themselves. (At least they should be!) ...

I hear ya

After only 6 days back, I'm exhausted and stressed out. I became a teacher not just because I enjoy working with kids, but to be home with my family during summers and holidays. Now I feel like my...

Feeling exactly the same!

Your comment about spending time with your own kids rings true. Today was only our 4th day of school, and I am completely overwhelmed already. Stayed late almost every night and will be going in...

Just found out

We are actually getting a chromebook for every one of our 5th graders this year! I'm excited about this but not sure how to use them. We will have some sort of training (not sure to what extent)...

Stressing a bit

I know it's only July, but I'm starting to stress about school already. Our district is realigning this year, and almost everyone within our two elementary buildings is moving, either from one...

Anyone ever heard of Benchmark Literacy?

We are starting this program this year, and I'm curious if anyone has used it. If you have, any comments, suggestions, ideas would be appreciated. We have two days of training later this month, but...

Your new teacher is very lucky!

You sound like a wonderful person! I was so appreciative when I was moved to a new grade and the other teachers shared in the planning. It truly is a huge help; especially with young children at...

Do you see any value in it?

We are using a new math series this year (GO Math) because of CC standards, and this is the first I've ever seen a lesson on partial quotients. I don't understand why on earth someone would teach...

Thank you

Thanks for your input! I was kind of leaning towards Frindle and did see a lot online. I am just that kind of person who has to explore all options before making a decision. Wastes a lot of time...

I don't have any advice but want you to know that you're not alone. I haven't taught language arts in several years, and I'm not only going back to it, we're revamping the whole curriculum because...

Well...

5th grade can be fun and the kids can be more independent, but they can also be very disrespectful. I think all grade levels are more challenging today, but it's extra stressful with the upper...
