My board was not magnetic
so I'm not sure. I would think if your paint was not too thick that fairly strong magnets would still work. One option is to paint a smaller area to check before painting the whole board.

I read to my students while they are eating their snack. That allows them to get finished eating vs. when I don't read, they don't eat because they want to talk to their neighbors.

I did buy a small hardware bin at a local store. It only has 12 bins, but I think it will work. I do have a couple of small shelving units to use as well. I am really trying to downsize.
