I'm not sure what state you are in, but the area of Tx I'm in require that our Kinders know 50 of the first Dolch sight words. They also teach sight word reading, opposed to emphasizing phonics.:p

Look into the use of Positive Behavior Support--read the book by Brenda Shearman(not sure about spelling). I have used it in my behavior class and it really made a difference.;)
