I read the book to my 5th graders and discussed, but didn't use the bucket filler slips. Then when I had to confront a student about behavior, it was a gentler and less accusing when I asked them...

There is some
comfort in knowing that I'm not alone. I can't seem to do anything but sit and stare at the tube...The sun doesn't shine, it's cold, which I REALLY HATE, and spent 3 of the last 5 school days at home...

and we have basals but I do not consistently use them. We have done class novels, short stories, picture books, etc. I do this because I do not want them to get bored, and they do if you don't...

The Top 10 Ways to Ruin the First Day of 5th
Grade was the book I began the year with. My 5th graders loved it. I think I heard about it on a PT thread. It is an out-of-print book and took me weeks to get it but was totally worth the wait.

I love my cords
I got some from LLBean but love the fit of the ones I got at Eddie Bauer. I should probably invest in Eddie Bauer stock. It is one of my favorite places to shop.

I have had it since August and I am crazy about it. I don't have space for anymore books and this is so much easier to carry and books when I go places. I also have the app downloaded on my IPhone...
