I agree with beagles2

I have found over the years that 1/4 of the parents say nothing, 1/4 think there is too much HW, 1/4 think there isn't enough, and 1/4 don't know what grade their child is in.

You could have your classes team up by interest first. Then teach your 5th graders how to use Book Wizard and have your teams pick out books to read together.

this saves a few hours every week

Saw this at the IRA convention in Chicago last week. Instead of spending time thinking of basically meaningless work to do at start of morning this site has LA, math, teachable moment for every day....

Can you guess your children's interests?

If you can, go to book wizard and put in their interests. You can then sort by DRA level and find books for 3rd.
