I don't think so. Most kids want to do well. Have you done a DIBELS test on him or Rigby benchmarked him? Maybe he struggles with comprehension.

I have hanging folders also but use the number system. For example, #1 is first child in class alphabetically, cubbies, mailboxes, etc. are all assigned this way too, We don't get our class lists...

I type up a weekly newsletter and send it home on Mondays letting the parents know any upcoming events, announcements, homework, etc. I also have a website that I upgrade weekly through teacherweb.
