I sub in my old school and at the high school. I love it! I get to know the kids from 6th grade and follow them through 12th grade. I think of them as my kids, just like when I was full time. It’s...

You will love it.

More time for family. More time for YOU. If you get bored, hunt me up. I need someone to help me with my outside spaces.

Both at the same time.

Back in 2004, we sold farmland and reinvested in houses for our sons to rent and 3 buildable lots on a new golf course. Then the bottom fell out of real estate. Been trying to sell the lots (2 homes...

My crazy SIL.

The nunwannabe writes checks at the post office for just one stamp. Did I mention she’s crazy? She’s never had a problem, though.

Did that. Got help

Now, this happened in college in the 1970s. I was so cool in my platform shoes and elephant leg hiphugger jeans. Stepped on the hem. Sprained my ankle. And bruised one hand just like you described....

Another year

I debated doing it, but I signed up for another year of subbing. With Russ’s death, running the farm, and just plain exhaustion, I almost decided to just quit. But my oldest son asked if I still...

Onion girl

Son is a chicken sh*t. He is strong willed, and he’s borne the brunt of her criticism. I have told her many times that she will have to move, either so I can stay and rent out the extra house to earn...

Still has an account

Her family has banked at this bank (when it was small and local) since they came here in 1921 from Ireland. Even though she’s overdrawn, they haven’t closed the account. The bank is on its fourth...

Thank you, TAOEP

I needed to read this. My nunwannabe SIL isn’t an alcoholic. But all the things mention in that reading apply to my relationship with her. And I’ve been trying to change. It’s hard, because I feel...

She’s filling out paperwork for SNAP for food, housing, and public assistance. I’m calling her brother and letting him know that she literally has NO money. Thank heavens my insurance man talked her...

Nunwannabe part 3

#1 son posted on our family message board tonight. HE was on the phone for over an hour with her. Started out asking about the trust, of which he is the trustee. Or will be when the papers are filed....

KetchupChips

She’s been kicked out of 12 cloistered communities and went over the brick wall of the 13th. She only wanted to sit in her room and pray. Not help with the chores of the communities. Number 13...

She is mentally ill. It runs in the women in her family. But she is also a narcissist, and if something goes wrong, it’s never her fault. Of the 42 years I’ve lived on the farm, she’s only lived away...

She has no bills so..

..she spends it on groceries. Lots of groceries. And sends money to convents, abbeys, etc. for nuns and priests. And sends packages to relatives. Not sure what’s in them, though.

Awww!

Love the name! Our black kitten was rescued from outdoors on the farm at 5 weeks. We named her Jezebel. She lasted in the house until summer, when she was about 8 months old. She was happier as an...

Nunwannabe….part two

So today SIL got a lesson in adulting. She called me from the local hardware store and wanted to buy a flag, as mine got tattered in a wind storm. I told her the rope was broken and I have a flag. I...

Rain!

We got 2:1/2 inches on Sunday night. It was cool and damp, so nothing got mowed today. SIL is mad at me, because I locked up the gas tanks. It’s supposedly just for farm vehicles. I put in three...

Selling the farm

I’m ready. Like Russ said this winter, “I’m losing my connection to this place.” He wanted to retire, but couldn’t support her if he did. I don’t have any income but my retirement right now, so I...

Friends waited this past year

Their son made the cutoff by months. But they were concerned about remote and hybrid learning. He will go this year with my grandson, maybe not in the same room, but in the same class. The parents...

Nunwannabe update

She now owns a car. A boat of a car. Russ bought it at least 10 years ago, preowned. I paid her insurance yesterday, because it had expired. Today, I paid nearly $400 to give it to her. Best money I...
