It's hard

I'd tell them that it's for family reasons. Tell them that you will miss them dearly, but that you have to think of your family first. Expect tears and confusion. But they will adapt to a new teacher.

As a retired teacher, I am limited to 120 days. By the end of December, I will have at least 55 days. It would be more, but I had to block out several days for my cancer treatments and doctor appts....

I don't know if it's Illinois, but...

...retired teachers can only sub 120 days in certified positions. I know when teachers have been on maternity leave, long-term subs have worked up to a semester. I don't remember any long-term subs...
